OVERVIEW

We are actively seeking an ambitious, experienced, and highly driven Data Scientist (Applied Statistics) to assist in the acceleration of our scientific work. As a key member of our Research and Development team, the Data Scientist (Applied Statistics) will work closely with our scientists and engineers to design experiments and deploy findings, analyses, and models into production for scientific use. YOUR MISSION

To collaborate with scientists for the purpose of experimental design, performing statistical analysis and modeling, and communicating findings to the scientists to produce data-driven results and insights. To research and implement new methodologies to accelerate Terramera's bioscience research.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

· Collaborate with scientists to design and execute experiments for biological studies in a lab setting, in growth chambers, and in the field;

· Define experiment goals, identify factors and responses, choose appropriate study designs and calculate necessary sample sizes;

· Perform data validation, statistical analysis, and modelling to analyze data collected from the biological studies;

· Prepare written and oral presentations that summarize data analysis results, interpret findings and provide recommendations;

· Implement analytical/statistical strategies and research new methodologies in consultation with other experts;

· Develop computational models for predictive analytics and prescriptive analytics; and

· Collaborate with Software and Machine Learning Engineers to deploy your models into production.

REQUIREMENTS

· PhD. or MSc in Statistics, Biostatistics or related fields;

· Strong understanding of fundamental statistical concepts and methods;

· 2+ years' practical experience in experiment design, including power analysis, block design, factorial design, longitudinal design, and statistical analysis;

· Experience with statistical learning / machine learning techniques and frameworks

PREFERENCES

· Accreditation in Statistics/Analytics;

· Experience with Python or R programming;

· Familiarity with agriculture field research, plant physiology and phenotyping;

· Good understanding of regulatory guidelines and requirements in agriculture field research;

· Familiarity with open-source biostatistics libraries and software; and

· Knowledge of the Agile project management methodology.

  • Work with the NBA Top Shot team to analyze large amounts of behavioural data with the goal of generating deep understandings of the patterns of activity that lead to user retention and monetization.

  • You have previous experience working in a data role with online games
  • You live and breathe KPIs

Opportunity

Northland is looking for a Data Scientist to extract meaning and interpret data utilizing statistical and machine learning methods as well as simply understanding the business as a human. To do well in this role you need to be able to find patterns, build models and algorithms, and have a deep understanding of the popular data analysis tools and databases. You'll be assisting other resources within the Data Delivery team to collect, clean, and troubleshoot data issues. Responsibilities:

  • Managing the creation, update, extension, and deletion of the master data sets for all the business units.
  • Implement transformative rulesets and data cleansing techniques to improve the quality, accuracy, uniformity, and integrity of existing data
  • Devising and applying models and algorithms to mine the stores of big data
  • Analyzing data to identify patterns and trends and convert that into solutions and opportunities
  • Processing confidential data and information according to data governance guidelines.
  • Works closely with other data consumers within the business to gather and populate data warehouse table structure
  • Managing, designing, and developing reports and the reporting environment, including data sources, security, and metadata.
  • Assist the Data Engineers with creation ETL processes and data identification and support
  • Providing technical expertise in data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing
  • Provide guidance and best practice for data visualization and report generation specifically with visual data modelling tools such as Power BI
  • Provide documentation and training to end-users on new reports and dashboards.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience
