Job Description Summary
General Clerks perform a variety of duties in the warehouse and on the retail floor relating to the receiving, processing, warehousing, shipping, and storage of merchandise.
Organizational Status
Reports to the Section Head or Assistant Merchandising Supervisor II, as designated. Receives direction from the Bookstore Assistants.
Work Performed
Typical Duties include:
Opens and unpacks cartons and skids. Prepares merchandise for processing;
Checks quantity received or shipped against quantity billed;
Picks merchandise and prepares online orders for shipment;
Documents the receipt of merchandise on a computer system (data entry) or by paperwork, as appropriate;
Price marking of goods for resale;
Distributes processed merchandise to appropriate location;
Files and maintains related documentation;
Loads and unloads delivery vehicles;
Keeps area uncluttered and safe, clearing and disposing of packing material;
Operates a computer terminal to produce price labels or to access information as needed;
Warehouses merchandise and perform inventory counts as required;
Restocks sales floor from merchandise in a warehouse;
Prepares merchandise for return to the vendor;
Received incoming merchandise and processes related paperwork.
May provide support on the retail floor and performs other duties in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of this classification.
Periodic Duties:
Assists in the counting and documentation of annual inventory;
Assists in the distribution of regalia at Convocation.
A consequence of Error/Judgement
Works within well-defined guidelines and procedures from both written and oral instructions. Must be able to exercise some judgment and initiative in establishing priorities and carrying tasks through to completion.
Supervision Received
Receives detailed instruction during orientation and training and on subsequent new assignments or changes in procedure.
Supervision Given
Employees at this level do not supervise but may explain work sequences to others.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
High School graduation or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a busy, team-based warehouse and/or retail environment preferred. Ability to operate a computer terminal, photocopier, and other related office equipment. Ability to use a pallet jack and other related warehouse equipment. Ability to work with figures quickly and accurately with great attention to detail. Ability to move skids of merchandise within the warehouse and to the retail floor. Ability to answer customer and co-worker inquiries on the phone or in writing (including email). Ability to lift heavy objects onto skids.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
- Ability to perform in a multi-tasking environment at, or above, departmental standards. I.e. Order Picking (full case and repack) in an accurate and timely manner, product put away, inventory replenishment, preparation for shipment and loading of trailers
- Adhere to all safety and lockout procedures and guidelines
- Build orders to customer and departmental standards using SAP system
- Replenishment and trailer loading duties upon successful certification for forklift equipment

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- OSSD diploma or equivalent and successful passing of basic qualification testing
- Ability to perform consistent physical work (lifting up to 50lbs, reaching, bending repetitively)
- Meeting picking requirements as defined within departmental standards
- Familiarity with the SAP warehouse transactions an asset
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Willingness to work overtime, pre-shift, post-shift, and weekends as required to meet customer expectations
- Warehousing, forklift experience an asset
- Must have or be capable of completing training and McCormick certification for pallet truck, counterbalance, and narrow aisle forklift

About This Opportunity
The Distribution Center Administrator provides support within the Distribution Center. They perform clerical duties in a Distribution Center by standard administrative office procedures and while adhering to the CBA.

Responsibilities

Qualifications
High school diploma required- 2+ years of business administration related experience in a fast-paced environment
- Post-Secondary Education in Business Administration or a similar area would be considered an asset
- Working knowledge of various computer programs: Word, Excel, SAP, etc
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Capable of working cross-functionally with multiple departments on projects, as part of a team
- Experience processing invoices, reconciling statements, etc
- Experience supporting the Senior Management and Leadership team would be beneficial
